Marked Queen on Frame:
I think I may dream about bees tonight, for I spent four hours straight inspecting mating nucs today. The weather was hot & humid. And, let’s just say my body opened all the water valves to keep me “cool”. Sorry, I guess I’ve started what will be a loong summer of talking about the heat. I was wearing a full bee jumper, hood, & gloves…better safe than stung. Anyway, I desperately needed to go through the queen yard and take frame of brood from the “over-achievers” and “donate” to those in need. The weaker colonies really need nurse bees to help out the new queens. Receiving a frame of brood the nuc gets experienced caretakers and newly hatched bees who will act as nurses to the young queen and her brood.
